MasterPlan

The MasterPlan is a long-term programme of restoration, refurbishment and improvement to all areas of the Club. The aim is to create a Club for the 21st Century, which is also respectful of its heritage. The work will be phased over several years to ensure that periods of closure and disruption to Members are kept to a minimum.




Ground Floor Refurbishment Project Update - 10th May 2013
We are delighted to announce that the next phase of the Ground Floor Refurbishment Project, which focuses on the Crush Hall, will commence on Monday 13th May.

Following our commitment to keep all Members fully updated throughout this project, I wish to draw your attention to the limited access to the Crush Hall from Monday 13th May until Thursday 16th May.

Our Front of House Team will be on hand to assist you in any way possible during this phase of the works, so please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff should you require any extra assistance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

Temporary Access Routes

  • Access to the Courtyard Brasserie will be via the Adam Room
  • Access to the Ballroom will be via the Round Room (via the Adam Room)
  • Access to the front lift will be via Sports Reception (using the front staircase from the Main Entrance)
  • Access to the rear lift will be via the Ballroom as usual
  • Cloakroom facilities will be provided by Concierge and Reception until the Crush Hall opens again later in the week
  • Access to the Dining Room will be via the main stairs as usual, or by taking the front lift from the Sports Reception level or by taking the rear lift as usual

    During the Ground Floor Refurbishment Project the Courtyard Brasserie will remain open and in operation throughout, as will the AQUA Café and the Dining Room.


    Ladies’ Poolside Changing Rooms - Refurbishment
    Works to refurbish the Ladies' Poolside Changing Rooms will commence on 13th May 2013.

    We anticipate that the project will take a number of weeks until completion in the middle of July. The date of re-opening these facilities will be communicated to all Members, nearer to the time. We will ensure a minimum level of disturbance at all times.

    During this period, the Ladies' Poolside Changing Rooms will remain closed however, the works will not affect any other facilities in the Sports Area.     Please be aware that the Thirties Room and Billiards Room will be closed temporarily on Thursday 18th April, between the hours of 8.00am – 1.30pm only. Normal service of these rooms will commence from 1.30pm on Thursday 18th April. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Ground Floor Refurbishment Project
    April 2013

    Exciting works to refurbish the ground floor of the Club will commence on Monday 8th April 2013.

    As part of our commitment to invest continuously in the Club to have the very best facilities possible for Members and staff, we are beginning a series of works to refurbish the ground floor. During this exciting period we will keep you informed of the progress and of any planned disruption.

    We will ensure a minimum level of disturbance at all times however, there will be a number of areas affected during the course of these works which will be closed or inaccessible at certain times. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

    On Monday 8th April, work will commence to refurbish and restore the Round Room bar and the Adam Room and the Ladies’ Powder Room on the mezzanine level.


    Monday 8th April

  • Closure of the Round Room Bar – until further notice
  • Closure of the Adam Room – until further notice
  • Closure of the Ladies’ Powder Room – until further notice
  • Closure of the Courtyard Brasserie - it will be closed during the day only, opening for Happy Hour and evening meals from 5.00pm on Monday 8th April. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday 9th April.
  • Opening of the Thirties Room Light Food & Drinks Menu – from Monday 8th April


    During these few weeks you will be able to enjoy the bar service from the Courtyard Brasserie which will remain open and in operation throughout, with exception to the lunch time service on Monday 8th April only. We will also be serving a light food and drinks menu from the Thirties Room, between the hours of 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. The AQUA Café and the Dining Room will remain open to serve delicious meals and drinks as per the usual opening hours, throughout the Ground Floor Refurbishment Project.


    The refurbishment of the Adam Room, the Round Room and the upgrade and decoration of the Ladies’ Powder Room on the mezzanine level will be followed by the rejuvenation of the Crush Hall and finally, the reconfiguration of the Front Entrance and up-lighting the front façade. We anticipate that the Ground Floor Refurbishment Project will be completed by the end of June.

    We hope you share in our excitement and enthusiasm for this greatly anticipated project.

    1998

    1999

    Priority and Enabling Works

    • Removal of boilers and plant in basement
    • New mansard roof area built to house new boilers
    • Replacement of pipework, electric wiring and switchboards

    Sports area refurbishment

    • Pool balcony redecoration
    • State of the art exercise equipment installed

    Entrance Hall refurbishment

    • New front doors
    • New carpets in hall, stairs and landings throughout front of building

    2000

    Fifth Floor bedrooms

    • Total refurbishment of the West Wing bedrooms creating 6 new Lansdowne rooms and suites, remodelled to high specification including marble bathrooms and air conditioning

    Sports area refurbishment

    • Squash courts A and B - refurbishment and redecoration

    2001

    Sports area refurbishment

    • New Ladies changing rooms at Pool level.
    • Redecoration of upstairs ladies' changing rooms
    • Redecoration of shower area in men's changing room
    • Improved ventilation of balcony and pool bar (now AQUA) area

    Fencing Sale

    • Installation of 3 new pistes
    • Re-polishing of all wood
    • Installation of 'state-of-the-art' scoring boards

    Fourth Floor bedrooms

    • Total refurbishment of the West Wing bedrooms, creating 7 new Lansdowne rooms and suites, remodelled to high specification including marble en suite bathrooms and air conditioning.

    2002

    Aqua Bar

    • Creation of our new informal bar and brasserie in the sports area in keeping with the Art Deco style.

    Thirties Room

    • Another fine example of Art Deco, the new Members sitting room on the First Floor, where Members can drink, read, relax and play backgammon or chess.

    Third Floor bedrooms

    • Total refurbishment of the West Wing bedrooms, creating 7 new Lansdowne rooms and suites, remodelled to high specification including marble en suite bathrooms and air conditioning.

    Findlay and Shelburne Rooms

    • The Findlay Room has been redecorated with Art Moderne panelling to capture the spirit of the original décor. The Shelburne Room has been redecorated and hand painted in a very pretty summer sky décor.

    2003

    Dining Room

    • Our famous Art Moderne dining room has been completely refurbished, in keeping with its design roots, but in a more modern style with a muted colour palette and the removal of the infamous carpet!

    Bruce Court

    • Refurbished and restored to the highest modern standards.

    Back lift service

    • Motor mechanism replaced and car refurbished.

    2004

    Ballroom

    • The first phase of the refurbishment of the ballroom was completed in January, which included the restoration of the decoration to show its original finishes.

    Swimming Pool

    • The 1930s Art Deco pool has been completely refurbished and restored to its original glory, as well as being converted into a deck level pool.

    Installation of a new Computer System

    • New Membership database and POS system.

    2005 to date

    Billiards Room and Library

    • Once Mayfair's most expensive store room, it has now been converted into the Club's new Billiards Room and Library. There is a fabulous snooker table, as well as bridge/card tables, board games and relaxing leather armchairs. This room is located adjacent to the Thirties Room.

    Fifth Floor bedrooms

    • Renovation of the single occupancy bedrooms in the North Wing is complete.

    The Adam and Round Rooms

    • The restoration of The Adam and Round Rooms is complete. The plasterwork on the ceiling and walls has been restored to its former glory and the ceiling design and colours are reflected in the specially designed carpet.

    Catering Offices

    • The Catering Offices have moved to new premises on the First Floor.

    The Business Centre

    • The Business Centre is open on the 4th floor Mezzanine with direct internet access. No bookings necessary.

    The Front Lift

    • Refurbishment to the Front lift is complete providing a faster service with wheelchair access.

    A new Treatment Room is open in the Sports area. Bookings through Sports Reception on: 020 7318 6177/6183

    The back lift

    • The back lift has been upgraded by replacing the car, doors and facia.

    The Dining Room is now fully airconditioned.

    The Bedroom refurbishment programme is complete. The Seventy two bedrooms have air-conditioning, flat screen televisions and state of the art bathrooms. Minor improvements will be carried out on an on-going basis.

    The new Goods Lift is now installed.

    The canopy over the main entrance is now installed.

    The parquet floor in the Ballroom has been replaced.

    The Sun Room has been refurbished. It is now fully equipped with new state of the art AV equipment, 66' Plasma screen, video-conferencing facilities and internet access.

    There is now a disabled suite on the first floor with easy access to the floors.
